How To Replace Battery In BMW Key Fob 5 Series

So, to perform this replacement you don’t need any advanced tools (or many tools), so here are the basic things you’ll need:

• CR2032 lithium coin cell battery
• Small flathead or a plastic pry tool

Step by Step Process

Step 1: Find The Battery Compartment

Your first task would be to find the battery compartment in your 5 series key fob.

Which should be located in the backside, covered by a one-side pointed rectangular cover.

Step 2: Open The Battery Cover

First remove the hidden key inside your keyfob, by simply clicking the key release button on the side of the keyfob.

After removing the hidden key, you’ll find a small groove or notch for opening at the place of the hidden key.

Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry out the cover. Insert your flathead into the notch or groove and pry out the cover, if needed you could use your fingers to gently open the cover without damaging the key fob casing.

Step 3: Remove The Old Battery

Now after removing the case, you’ll find the battery.

Now use the flathead or the hidden key to pry open the old battery. Remember the battery’s orientation, where the positive(+) side faces upwards.

Step 4: Insert New Battery

Take the new CR2032 battery and slide it into the battery compartment.

Remember to align it correctly with the positive(+) and negative(-) sides. The positive(+)side faces upwards.

Gently press the new battery in its place.

Step 5: Close The Key Fob

After placing the battery, close the battery cover by pressing gently until it makes a clicking shut sound.

Seal the key fob securely to ensure its water resistance function.

Step 6: Test It

After doing all this, test your key fob to see if all your hard work paid off.

Simply check your key fob by locking and unlocking your 5 series. And, also check that the LED indicator on the key fob lights up.
